>I have a sister who is terribly addicted to smoking. Would like to quit, but can't. Is there any evidence that colloidal silver could help stop that addition? Or anything else? Any and all information will be appreciated. Carl George [email protected]
Hello! Nicotine addiction works because the nicotine goes for the acetyl choline receptors in the brain. When the brain is flooded with nicotine for weeks or months, it responds by increasing greatly the number of acetyl choline receptors. Then, when someone tries to quit, it's incredibly tough, as the brain has become used to the receptors constantly being stimulated. One of the best ways to kill the craving, is to take the B vitamin Choline which converts into acetyl choline in the body. Also useful, is Lecithin, which has a large amount of Choline in it. This fills up the receptor sites, and kills the craving. If you can stay away from the nicotine, the body will gradually reduce the number of acetyl choline receptor sites, and the cravings will slowly stop. This can take a year or more! A great deal of patience is required. Somewhere between 1 to 4 grams of Choline per day should do it, or double or triple that amount of Lecithin should work. With meals is probably best. This also helps non-smokers who have a tough time with smoke. Just take a gram or 2 of Choline, or 2 or 3 of Lecithin, before going to a smoky place. This helps my wife tremendously. Others on this list will probably be able to offer many other helpful suggestions. I'm afraid I haven't kept up as I am too busy with work. Hope this helps.
