It was Marshalee's suggestion for the CS/sugar. :o) I apply generally ONE, sometimes two doses of topical flea/tic product like biospot per year...only because I do not want to take the chance of the rottie bringing fleas into the cats...(I do not chemically treat the cats at all). I live up here along lake Erie, do not have the same kind of heat as you.
I have not seen fleas in the house, or on the rottie, in over 3 years. (since I started barfing, them all.) I think if I was camping, in high tic areas...I would need to do something more aggressively. Although we do have high deer population here in our 13 acres...and the rottie does love to run them when she gets a chance...I have not found a tic problem on her.
