You could be right Dean,
Particularly if these are the same units as found here:
http://www.americanbrightled.com/pdf/84.pdf

Red LEDs are at 660nm which is important, and rated at 6cd (6000mcd).
This would mean a total intensity of 162cd which is pretty bright!
