Hello Liz,

I am a college teacher too, and I am the one being flamed, but that happens
on all lists occasionally. Goes with the turf and if I am not willing to be
flamed, then I need to shut up, get off the list, or just lurk. Actually,
being flamed gives me an opportunity to practice patience, love, and not
judging.

  >>>New people come along and think they know it all , without ever doing
any experiments of their own, and act like all us old timers didn't ever do
anything. Be fore giving us your great advice, tell us how you determined
that it was correct or shut up. We don't need it, and stop screwing up those
that are trying to heal themselves.

  >>>You are Johnny come latelys and need to spend a couple hundred hours in
the archives (holy smoke, the archives ) before thinking that you know
something that we haven't already done with experiments. There is about five
years worth of good information there. Use it before opening your mouth.

So, as a newcomer, if I'm wrong I'm going to get flamed like this? No,
thanks. Where I come from, people treat one another with
respect--especially newcomers to our list. In my opinion, a list for
informational purposes should gently educate, not lambast the uninitiated
with your knowledge.

I am a teacher. Were I to use this method with my college students, every
single one of them would tune me out for the rest of the semester. I would
like to share with you two of my favorite quotes:

"The secret in education lies in respecting the student."
  Ralph Waldo Emerson

"A good teacher never strives to explain his vision. He simply invites you
to stand
beside him and see for yourself."
  R. Inman
