Steve,

Just out of curiosity, have you searched the archives? If you type in
'calculator' you will find lots of posts with some good information. I would
suspect, based on what I've read, that your brew is somewhat less than the
37ppm the calculator says. According to lab reports quoted in one of the
posts, it would seem that the larger the batch you make, the more exaggerated
the calculator figure will be. I'm just starting out -- making 8oz batches,
starting at ~1.20mA (using 1/4 of a previous batch as a starter and warming
the water for 1:30 in the microwave) and ending up 22 minutes later at
~3.25mA (using 27v DC). I've been checking the current every 5 minutes and
entering that into the Herx calculator as I go. Depending on the
particulars, it tells me I end up with 10-12ppm. I'm guessing its slighly
less than that, but the finished product is an ever-so-slight faint yellow
hue when compared to 'clean' water, with a weak Tyndall effect in subdued
light. My guess is that my brew is somewhere between 5-10ppm... and for my
purposes right now, thats good enough for me. I plan to order a TDS meter
soon though.

Take care,

Mike
