Acidic water is used in Japanese hospitals for bedsores, infected wounds, diabetic ulcers and so on. It has proven very effective. This water can be purchased in drug stores at modest cost, or made at home using the alkaline water machines. The ph of normal "waste" water when making alkaline water is not so low -- maybe 5.0 or so. This is "astringent." The more expensive machines make very acidic water of ph 2.2 or so. The stuff is safe to handle -- do not drink it" -- and easy to use -- put it on cotton balls or just soak the foot in the water. The same water is used in food preparation and so forth. Not so well known outside Japan, I think; one website somewhere -- I do not recall -- will sell you a video featuring a bilingual news program popular here, w/ several segments about the alkaline/acidic water uses.
