Hi List I posted a few weeks back about making CS into a gel for topical application. I got a few replies, but no recipes or methods for making it. So I've been doing a little experimenting and research. After looking into it, I decided not to try making a cream, since the CS would need to be heated (in most of the recipes I've seen to around 70-75C) and I wanted the CS to be as 'neat' as I could make it, with little heating etc. I've found that with a gel, all you need to do is bring the CS to around blood heat then add xanthum gum and stir well untill thickened. I added about 1 tsp for every 200ml of CS. This makes a gel that is thick enough to leave a coating on the skin but evaporates over an hour or so (depends how thick it's smeared on). I've also tried adding an aloe vera concentrate to the CS gel, but the batch I've made so far has turned a light shade of pink (most fetching) Perhaps there was a residue from the cleaner I used, or maybe it's interacted with the various vitamins, minerals and amino acids in the AV? Maybe one of the chemists here would care to comment. As for marketing.. well the secrets out now- it's just too easy to make yourself! I have seen one or two products that were described as a CS gel, on an auction site of all places. BJ, I'm a complete novice at this so I would really appreciate some feedback, let us all know how the CS cream goes?
