You might find the work of Dr. R. Becker applicable; pick up a copy of *The Body
Electric*  and look for the section in which he treated a bone infection that 
had
persisted for two years in spite of all antibiotic treatments.  The patient had 
a
non-healing fracture and Dr. Becker inserted a silver wire into the hole left 
by a
previous metal screw and plate that had failed, and using Extremely small 
currents
caused the silver ions to migrate into the infected region of the bone.  Ten 
days
later,- no infection whatsoever!  This is no job for an amateur; seems to me 
you'd
need to find an orthopedic Dr. familiar with Dr. Becker's work.  But it's not
rocket science, either.
