Good question Jack but I don't have an answer.  I'm in the same boat as the
rest of you folks.  We usually distill our own with a Barnstead still that
makes a gallon an hour.  It usually come out at 1.6 uS maximum and that's
pretty repeatable.  Even if I de-scale the unit it seems to always come out
the same.  So apparently there's always a little bit of mineralization
entrained in the water that comes over the helm.

My feeling is that many folks are picking fly sh** out of the pepper flakes.
It just isn't worth the effort.  Triple nine silver and well distilled water
should be plenty good enough for everyone except the absolute purists.
