Hi Steve,

I agree with you.  However, if one gets any silver plating on the vessel, it
forms a conductive path and can allow current to flow around the periphery
or the bottom of the jar at the same time it's flowing through the water.
That will cause a division of current flow and subsequent lowering of total
silver in the water.  This is a real problem if using a constant current
device.

My recommendation is to toss the vessel if it shows any sign of plating.
After all, the jar is inexpensive.
