Hi Nancy,

Sorry about the sarcasm, but over the years there have been many, many
messages posted from the quackwatch site. Even though Barrett and
company have been losing in court, they (and their Canadian cohorts)
keep pushing the agenda of the pharmaceutical companies.

Even if your friends were using a little salt to make their CS, *and
the CS was the normal 10 to 20 ppm* strength that low-voltage
(battery) generators make, it would take at least 70 GALLONS of 10 ppm
CS daily for over 6 months to get the amount of silver into the body
that could cause argyria (which is a cosmetic problem, and doesn't
have a negative effect on the functioning of the body).

Needless to say, that's not even close to being possible.

In addition, tests have been made with (non-salt added) CS that shows
the body eliminates practically all of the silver within a few days,
with much being eliminated within 12 hours. IOW, for CS to be most
effective, a little amount must be taken throughout the day.

Silver is NOT a "heavy metal" in terms of biological activity, and
there are reports that it acts as a chelating agent, releasing true
"heavy metals" into the blood stream for elimination. (In that sense,
gold is also not a heavy metal, though I've seen no reports that imply
is also has the chelating effect).

Also, there is practically NO MD that knows anything about the effects
of silver in the body. Most MDs get their info from pharmaceutical
salespeople or hearsay from other MDs (who get their info the same
way).

All of the materials safety agencies say that silver METAL (or ionic
silver) is safe in almost any quantity -- there is no practical toxic
level. Note that applies ONLY to silver metal (or ionic silver) --
NOT silver compounds. You can look up the data sheet for Silver Metal
at:
<http://www.espi-metals.com/msds's/silver.pdf>

You might also want to look at some other information about the
safety/toxicity of silver. Please take care to note whether the info
you read is for ionic/colloidal (pure metal) silver or for silver
compounds. Most of the scare stories refer to silver compounds, and
are carefully written to imply that the information is for colloidal
silver.

See: <http://www.silvermedicine.org/safetyinformation.html> and
<http://www.asapsolution.com/silversafety.html> for example.

There's a discussion of the toxicity of silver, with many good links,
at: <http://www.clspress.com/tox.html>
