Hi Harvey,

I've been making CS daily for years as part of my generator testing program.
I make it to a strength of at least 20 PPM. I have some that is over 2
years old and it is still clear and colorless.

I think CS turns color because of agglomeration. My experience is that with
stirring and current limiting to under 2 ma./square inch it is always clear
and agglomeration is minimized. I have sold thousands of our generators and
no one mentions the CS turning color except rarely. In those cases it is
usually the water that is the culprit. If one uses a contaminated vessel
for production it is almost a given that the CS will turn color. The worst
offenders are jars that have held pickles or any type fermented food. If a
production vessel is cleaned with liquid detergent, that will almost always
cause agglomeration.

Color change is a non issue with our generators if good water and a clean
vessel are used during production. Our SG6 Auto generator is current
limited to 1 ma. and has 2 square inches of anode wetted depth. Our SG7
limits current to 30 ma. but has 30 square inches of anode. It also
produces crystal clear, colorless CS.

So, it's not the current but current density and water movement that is
critical as far as I'm concerned.
