I had fun today trying to make CS with 3 12V solar modules. I carried them from window to window as the sun was moving and got a nice 33 V out of them at noon.
For some reason, that gave me only 0.023 mA starting current at 22 cm electrode length - less than a tenth of what I had gotten the day before with only 18 V from a shady north window. It took me a while to realize that the second meter which I had put into the circuit to monitor the voltage took away all the juice I needed for the first slow hours of CS making! Then my husband, who has the better of my two brain halves, suggested to take the main meter out of the circuit too, and put it in there only when I walk in to read the numbers. That really speeded things up. So now we are making CS directly with sunlight. It takes about 24 hours for a container of 6 liters. Learned a few things too.
