This was discussed pretty recently... Do a search of the net or the archives on "Algaebar" for one option. There are other systems. It is a block of copper and silver that you toss in the water. The dissimilar metals set up an electrolytic reaction and release copper and silver ions into the water at low concentrations. Copper kills algae, silver kills bacteria. Be well, Mike D.
