Encourage and support away, but here is something to keep in mind--the health harm that comes from breathing and living in second-hand smoke are well documented, every new study that comes out finds that is even more harmful than previously thought. Addicted or not, whatever a smoker chooses to put in their own lungs, no one who truly loves you would smoke in your home, if you dislike it, even if its their home as well. I'm addicted to caffeine, love coffee, have it most mornings. But I never brew or drink coffee when David is home. I take care to wrap used grounds so their odor can't be detected, I wash and dry the coffee brewer for the same reason. David finds the odor of coffee extremely repellant. He won't yell at me or smack me for it. But this is his home as well, and I love him, why would I want to make it unpleasant for him to be in our home? Say you were living with a person addicted to injected heroin--every time he shot up, would he hold you down and forcibly inject you as well? That is what smokers do. You can filter the air all you please, the smoke products cling to and are deposited on every surface. And you will likely never get rid of it even if he quits today and never smokes in the house again. Yes, I have a bug abut smoking--I'm allergic, can't even stand directly behind a smoker at the grocery store... paula ----- Original Message ----- From: Orpha Yoder
Here is a caring challenge, encourage the smoker to give up the nicotine and then stand by him and give him the support he needs!
