Hi Jerry,

Good thing your ISP is on the ball!

It could be a new virus or an improved version of older ones. Sobig would
search for email addresses in various text files, but it was supposed to
stop propagating on June 8. Bugbear uses a Windows exploit that allowed
it to run without user interaction, and it uses EXE, SCR and PIF
extensions. So someone who hasn't patched their computer may have caught
it. There is a brief description of the top ten viruses at

  http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/topten/

So be sure to download the latest patches, and update your antivirus
software.

I haven't got the time to download tens or hundreds of megabytes for
patches that may not work, and antivirus software that only gets updated
after a new virus appears on the scene. So I stick to Win 3.1 and avoid
all these problems.

Best Regards,

Mike Monett
