Hi, Is there ANY way that I can SAFELY get off coumadin????
Due to a severely restricted (calcified) aortic valve, I had valve replacement surgery about three years ago. The Saint Jude type valve has two hinged "shutters" to perform the function of a check valve. Evidently, the "need" for a blood thinner is due to the potential (or likelihood) of excessive clotting due to the changed flow currents of the blood after it passes through the valve. Clotting here could kill, or make you wish you were dead, if it were to cause a stroke etc. I expect that healthy blood would not exhibit a tendency to clot at the valve, not being agglomerated. But I have no real knowledge of such things. I saw a post that mentioned the dark field microscope, in relation to examining blood specimen. Would it be feasible to monitor the condition of the blood with such a microscope, on a daily basis, in order to determine the need for thinning the blood, then thinning as required? Are there natural means to accomplish blood thinning? Better yet, is there a way to eliminate the fear of clotting at the artificial valve, yet not artificially regulate blood viscosity? Thanks, :) Marv ----- Original Message ----- From: "C Creel" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 18, 2003 12:50 AM Subject: Re: CS> congestive heart failure questions Dear Marian, You said: <<The drugs I feel I need are for my diabetes, if anyone has alternatives that will help I'd love to know.>> ** Is it Type I or Type II? The former needs pharmaceutical intervention. The latter, if not too many years into it can be reversed by altering the diet to a paleo-type dirt (carbs are eaten in the form of vegetables only).
