Mike, 

The NHE program is well worth your time.   Having said that, I will say
that nothing can overcome a lack of exercise, which is a problem I must
overcome.   I feel much better on the NHE diet, but my body fat
percentage is still much too high, even thougg I stick to the diet.   I
do find that different kinds of carbs have different effects in my case;
 I can use pasta as energy quite well,  but breads of all kinds seem to
go to fat immediately -- and that includes good quality, fresh-baked 
Austrian rye bread.  Oatmeal, on the other hand, goes to energy rather
than fat.  

I have no idea why.  Bottom line here is that you have to pay attention.
  

I eat no junk foods and my only arguably unhealthy food is milk, which I
HAVE to have in my tea.   Still, I have too much fat.  

Gotta get on those running shoes . . . . 

Good luck w/ Faigin!   At a minimum, you will notice a big change in
your hunger patterns.
