Annendum: One of the most important things in a cs generator is a constant current source that becomes active at the beginning of the run. This requires high compliance (ie high voltage). I posted a simple circuit earlier that meets this requirement.
This of course would never get UL approval due to the high voltage on exposed parts. So it is not suitable for mass production.
