It takes a special tool to remove the tub. I know because the repair man showed me when I asked if I could do it myself. It did not look like an expensive tool. Part of our problem was we were washing a lot of doggy blankets and the hair made a nice mat for the grease to collect in, when I used those washing discs that really did nothing to remove grease, although they did remove dirt pretty well, but so does warm water.
