If there are silver compounds in the blood they are light sensitive, and will produce silver atoms upon exposure to light (basic photography). Thus one can get a buildup of metallic silver atoms in the skin when exposed to sunlight if they have silver compounds in the blood. Thus to get argyria requires sufficient silver compounds in the blood, or skin (you can get it instantly with silver nitrate applied to the skin then exposed to light). Colloidal silver should not be capable of causing argyria since it will not reduce to silver metal causing particles in the skin to grow, it is already silver metal. Theorectically the ionic portion of CS could contribute to this condition, but there are two things that will tend to prevent it. First, the ppm of the silver will be too low to cause the crystals to grow rapidly engough to get trapped. Second, all the colloidal portion of the CS will provide sites for any plating out of the ions, thus they will not tend to do so only in the skin where it can be seen, and the particles will not grow sufficiently to get trapped.
