It's steadily swelling, the
pain gradually increasing, even slight pressure of tongue against it when
swallowing liquid becomes rather painful.
My husband had a wisdom tooth that came in sideways, not straight down.
Same situation on the other side of his mouth, and that tooth had been
removed several years earlier. The remaining tooth became infected as if
over night. We did not have the money to go to an oral surgeon right away,
so he mixed dmso and tea tree oil and applied several times daily. Ghastly
taste, but in a couple of days the pain and all the swelling, which was
substantial and encompassed the whole side of his face, was completely gone.
Mind you, in the beginning his face was huge, and we were very concerned
having an infection so active in his head. By the time we were able to have
the tooth removed, several months later, it had not been infected once since
the initial flare up...and the gum was very healthy. When we have an animal
with a gum infection we always use dmso now. Of course on the cats we omit
the tea tree oil. For the animals we dilute the dmso 50% with silver, and
add a few drops of gentian violet. My husband, however, used the dmso full
strength with a few drops of the tea tree oil. Would not recommend the
gentian violet for humans unless you want purple teeth ;-) Before we
thought to use the dmso, we used straight gentian violet on one old dog who
had a gum infection...we were lucky to get any drops in her mouth...so we
only got on one application and it cleared it right up.
a rose...
when I was growing up in the 50's you could afford to go to the
dentist...now you have to hock your soul. I went to a dentist about 5 years
ago for a teeth cleaning. He was closer than the dentist I usually went to,
by an hour + driving. This dentist told me that he needed to cap most of
the teeth in my mouth, do this fancy periodontal thing and that, cost
$8000...and that I needed to get a bank loan or borrow from a relative or I
would loose my teeth in a year. Well, I walked out, went back to my regular
dentist, a meat and potatoes kinda dentist in a small country town, had my
teeth cleaned, and would you believe, still have my teeth
today...hum...imagine. I cannot say enough bad things about dentist these
days. Seems they either want to pull or cap everything...
I have known several women my age that have had all their teeth pulled
because the dentist said they were loosing bone and if they waited too long
the bone loss would be so much that the false teeth would not fit...so
better to get them pulled now while the bones were still in enough mass to
support the false teeth...cuse me????? Does anyone see anything wrong with
this picture? Sure you loose bone density as you age...duh. So, pull all
your teeth so you can stop the bone loss???? And the sad thing is, people
believe these crooks in white coats. I am appalled at what has become of
the dentistry trade, but also the veterinarians. It is all one huge racket.
I would get several opinions before I let anyone convince me that a tooth
was going to do something terrible in the future. I have known people who
took their wisdom teeth to the grave.
