Guess I missed the part about iodine allergy. Agar is a purified
product, particularly that sold by scientific supply houses. It is used
as a base media for cell culture. I would be very surprised if there is
any iodine content in this form, as it would skew the results of any
attempt to grow microbes or tissue cultures.
