Hi folks, One other thing... Don't anybody jump all over [email protected] who was the *apparent* sender of that virus mail.
The way these things work nowadays, is they pluck addresses off the machine they've infected and use them to forge the From: address. So the odds are *against* them actually being the sender. Anybody who might have an old message on their machine from gvagraphics could be the actual source of the message. Of course, the infected machine would also have messages from the silver-list on it, allowing the list to be targeted by the virus. Combine a legitimate subscriber address with the proper list address... and it falls to my attachment filters to catch the bug before it hits the list. Those filters are obviously not perfect. I'll be reviewing and testing them, now that I've taken the crude step of blocking anything as big as this virus from getting through. Thanks, folks. Anybody with questions, information or assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.
