CS does act as a mild irritant and promotes mucus flow like a mild
expectorant, hence cleaning.
Sheet rock dust is fairly inert but will grow green stuff if it's wet and
other nutrients become absorbed by it. Aromatic wood dust is especially
nasty. Just a ceder or cyprus saw dust particle 'floating' into your eye
will produce an infection or sty. CS killed the infection in 1 1/2 days,
but I still have a small cyst where a piece of Cyprus dust got into my eye
and became lodged there. The eye doc said it would eventually grow through
the lid.
The aromatics don't absorb water and become soft and easily expelled like
pine. The oils are an irritant. Fir is also a danger and is used for trim
quite a lot. [despite being notorious for nasty hard sharp brittle
infective splinters]
The harder woods make a finer dust.

I'd guess that inhaling CS would help a bit.
The mask ain't a bad idea regardless...pain in the buttocks though.

dust, sheet rock dust, etc...for almost 40 years. Just recently he has had
trouble breathing and needs to wear a mask on the job site to get through
the day. He has serious congestion in the lungs from these foreign
substances that are affecting his lungs. My initital thought would be that
CS wouldn't be able to help here because it is not bacteria/fungus related,
but I am not sure. Could the foreign substances be allowing
bacteria/fungus to prosper thus causing the congestion. Would CS help out
here??
