Yes and that is precisely why we use it!! You must clean your skin before using. Anyone who uses DMSO should become familiar with its effects and know why they are using it. Just like taking an antibiotic like Doxicycline can put you in the Emergency Room if you do not take it with enough water, as it can burn your esophagus pretty bad.
It is not with out its side effects and warnings. But those who use it know this. Much the same as Hyrdrogen Peroxide.
