Hi folks,
Yes, those freebie Web-mail things are a real pain, aren't they?
Couple of hints:
1. If a serious but even *smallest* business user - or regular traveller -
you should have your own domain and the automatic mail services that come
with that, even at cheapest hosting services. (vis: Fablor offers its own
members a FULL , real website system and real, FULL mail services for a
whole buck per week = total control) It was restricted to Members, but
has just recently been opened to the public. More info:
mailto:[email protected]?subject=just-an-enquiry
this is just an autoresponder (automatic answer with info)
2. Whenever you send an email today, you actually risk having it so heavily
censored that it -in some mail services like Hotmail, Yahoo etc, it has up
to 70% chance of not getting there! So, if it is important mail, ask for
a "Return Receipt". On decent mail programs it is an icon option on top of
your screen - but don't do it as a regular thing, only for that important
mail that you need answered.
( BTW: Some of those idiotic spam-cop-nazi programs will reject mail if
the sender has a Yahoo address and includes words such as: click here,
unsubscribe, offer, free, money! Oh and two !! gets you banned. True!)
3. Then of course, nothing beats also having a decent, safe, mail program
like Eudora.
Cheers,
Himagain
