The phrase, "breaks down collagen" caught my attention.

Does this mean defective or mal-formed collagen or all collagen?

Collagen is one of the things I am trying to study because so many friends have collapsing disk and bone problems.

I understand your statement to mean the cyst is fully encapsulated with collagen. Likely this is collagen out of place or in some way defective collagen.
