This may be a long post, sorry about that.

First, Thanks to Mike and all the members of this list. I've learned
almost everything I know about CS from this list.

What happened: My cat got sick, I gave him CS and he got well.

Last September my 10 year male cat, Albert, got very sick, very
fast.
He has frequent URI's and he hates to go to the vet. or
take medicine worse than any cat I have ever seen, so,
we usually wait a few days to see if he will get better
by himself.

He seemed to have trouble swallowing and would only eat a
few bites at a time.
He lost weight from over 10 pounds to about 2 pounds.
His balance was off and he could only walk about a foot
before falling down.
He had several black, raised areas in his ears, about
1/8 th inch high. I had ask the vet. about them twice and
he said not to worry about them.
Now he had 3 black areas in one ear, 2 in the other ear and
2 on his forehead, one was over 1 inch in diameter.
He lost all use of his front paws, he could not straighten
them out, therefore he had to walk on his wrist.
He had poor control of his back legs, when he tried to scratch
his ear, his leg would just flop all over the place.
He had good control of his bowel and bladder, but, would not
use the cat box, probably because it hurt his wrist, he went
on the carpet.

The vet. drew blood for lab work and took x-rays and did
an exam.
According to the vet: there was a tumor on his spine and
there must be something else wrong. He said we could take
him to a research hospital for further test, however, they
probably couldn't do any thing for him either. He said the
best thing for the cat would be to put him to sleep right
now.
I thought the best thing would be to put the vet to sleep
and take Albert home.
My wife disagreed, so, we paid the vet and took
Albert home :)

The day before this, after the exam, the vet had giver Albert
a shot of cortisone and a bottle of antibiotics.
After the shot, Albert perked up a little and had better
balance, that wore off in a couple of days.
When we got home I tried giving Albert an antibiotic. He
fought with all the strength he had left.
No infection showed up on the test, so, what were the
antibiotics for? I tossed them in the trash.
I tried putting a crushed pain pill in his food. He smelled
of it, looked at me and turned away.
He would starve to death before he would eat food with
medicine in it.

I was heart-broken. I decided to make what ever days he
had left as comfortable as I could.
I had bought a silver puppy CS generator 9 months before
this and had been taking 1 ounce twice a day.
I had not noticed that it helped me any, but, it hadn't
hurt me either. It did heal cuts, burns and scratches
fast and it kept milk from going bad.
I tried giving Albert CS instead of water one day. He
wouldn't touch it.
The next day I tried 2 ounces of CS and 1 ounce of distilled
water. He drank that. He continues to get that twice a day
and no tap water.
He gets nothing else different except extra TLC.

Now he is almost well.
He has 2 small black areas left in one ear, about 1/4 inch
in diameter. He has a scar on his forehead where one of the
black areas used to be.
His fur is a little dry, he gets brushed 3 times
a day now because his bathing isn't up to it's usual.
He has not used the scratching post since he got sick.

He weighs about 8 pounds, he comes to get me when he
wants fresh canned food. He walks without problem.
He goes for a walk outside about twice a day, which
has always been his habit.
He has not had a URI since he started on CS.
Ticks are unusually bad this year, he has not had a tick
this year, (neither have our other 2 cats since starting
CS).
It took about 2 months to start to regain use of his front
paws. Now he kneads bread when he is happy.

Thanks for this list,
Thanks to everyone for what I have learned here.
