My mate does it with all sorts of things. She uses almost anything on a string. As a "scientific type" it is in my too-hard basket. But her specialty is sexing plants. VERY old European idea: just like in real life, males are sacrificial and females are the real thing. She mindboggled a bunch of pro Nurserypeople many years ago who operated next door to us. Over a couple of years she had all these "secret" converts. Nobody wanted to be seen doing it....... by the customers...

But for the Japanese - it would need to be a FAST process wouldn't it?
