The drive was about 23 hours, straight through, keeping to the speed limit or a little less, generally. I drove with my sons, who both have their licenses. Apart from taking the graveyard shift so they could sleep, we shared the work about equally. It's not something I'd do often, but it's an amazingly practical way to get there. Cost of fuel was less than $250 round trip for the three of us, with no rental car costs. We stayed with Mom & Dad, so accomodations were free, too.
