DMSO is a very good antinflammatory. Used orally or topically. I agree
with the idea of compressing the area with DMSO CS, even adding some
MSM. And would also do all three orally.
I had Bell's Palsy when I was pregnant. Same symptoms, went to the ER
and the doc met me there. She said it was due to the baby pressing on
major nerves. It came and went for a few weeks. No virus involved, but I
can see how a virus could cause pressure on the nerve and interfere with
nerve function, effectively blocking the signal.
I have had herpes on my mouth that made my whole face start throbbing up
to my eyes. This was before I had started using CS. I took five 250 mg
Olive Leaf capsules every hour for a coupel doses, then two hours for
the rest of the day -- and anti-viral herbs like Lomatium and Hypericum
(St John's Wort) to bring it and the nasty flu I had under control. I
was feeling quite delerious and knew it was a bad flu bug that had super
activated my herpes. I had it under control within a few hours.
Sometimes you have to go with high doses and use what every antivirals
are available. Glucagon is also useful as well as Colostrum. Donna at
www.excellentthings.com has a fav brand of Transfer Factor, derived from
Colostrum.

Hi David,
If it were me I would be taking anti-inflammatories. Steroids are a
last
resort in my book. If this is caused by a viral or bacterial infection
you
need your immune system to work at it's best.
Steroids suppress the immune system.. I am not suggesting that this is
your
case, but one of the things said to cause bells palsy is HIV and AIDS.
Imagine what would happen if you give an immune suppressant to someone
with
an already compromised immune system.
Take a look at this link below.

I am not a doc, it is just my opinion and I am not telling you to stop
any
meds the doc has given you. I would keep taking whatever he has given
you
and go back and express the concern for the steroids. The use of
steroids
in Bells Palsy is said to aid the fullest recovery from the attack, but
even
then, it is still controversial.
The other meds are possibly anti-virals.
All the best and I hope you get better soon,
Dave.

Subject: CS>Bells Palsy
I had scary thing happen to me today... the left side
of my face stopped working... I can't blink my eye,
the left side of my mouth kind of droops, and if I
drink something I better keep it on the right side of
my mouth or it is dribbled down my shirt. Anyway I
thought I was having a stroke so I went to the
emergency room and they did a cat scan and all the
other things I have never had before and they tell me
I have bells palsy. The good news is it that for most
people it goes away within a couple months or so. They
don't really know what causes it but some papers they
gave me says that they think it might be caused by a
virus. Has anyone in this group experienced Bells
Palsy or know the best way to treat it in a holistic
manner? They gave me steroids and and some other
poison I really don't want to take. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance!
David
