Would the potency of your alkaline water be better if you
started with distilled water?
Acid and alkaline are relative.

I am not convinced. I use filtered ionized water to drink.
Unlike
distilled water it is alkaline, which should help prevent me
from
becoming acidic, and contains a good bit of calcium, which I
depend on
for strong bones.

But I do think it is certainly better than tap water with
chlorine and
fluorine and other garbage in it.
