I had no idea xylitol breaks down into mannose. My body reacts badly to
xylitol with cramps and diarrhea. I can't even take one mint before bedtime
without problems. (The toothpaste, however works miraculously to clear plaque
and
whiten teeth). Anyway, my infection is not E-colil, so the d-mannose will not
help (I tried). I am working on vitamin C, but have considerable trouble
finding one I am not allergic to, and does not cause unpleasant reaction due to
the acidity. One person on the list suggested taking 30,000 units of C to
knock out a UTI in one day. I am still buying different types of C and taking
them to be checked by muscle testing before I can safely take them. Maybe some
people can just pop 10,000 units of C in their mouth with no problem, but I'm
not one of them.
