Hi Gang!

A new member took the time to ask me for help with the many acronyms
and abbreviations we use here. I dug up this glossary that was
contributed some time ago by James Allison and added a few entries and
expanded definitions.

Any other contributions?

This is for Eugene! <grin>

Silver-List Commonly Used Acronyms

Common Silver Acronyms:

Ag+ : Silver Ion (i.e. positive charge)
Ag : Silver

CS : Colloidal Silver -- generic term for any of a number of
different kinds of silver product

MSP : Mild Silver Protein -- a formulation that uses protein additives
to suspend silver particles. Often high concentration and/or large
particle size. Has been associated with some cases of argyria.

CSP : Colloidal Silver Protein -- see MSP

EIS : Electrically Isolated Silver -- a locally coined term that
describes a silver product consisting of pure silver in pure distilled
water, with no additives, produced by electrolysis.

Common Power Source Acronyms:

A : Amps, Amperes -- a unit of current flow
AC : Alternating Current -- current that changes polarity every cycle
DC : Direct Current -- always flows in one direction
HVAC : High Voltage Alternating Current

LVDC : Low Voltage Direct Current (typically 3 or 4 nine volt
batteries)

mA : milliamps
mV : Millivolts
V : Volts -- a unit of electrical potential or pressure

Common Tester Acronyms:

PWT : Pure Water Tester (Hanna Instruments)
TDS : Total Dissolved Solids
TDS1 : Total Dissolved Solids Tester (model 1 from Hanna Instruments)

Common Testing and/or Measuring Acronyms:

AA : Atomic Absorption, also Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS)
mg/L : Milligrams per Litre (same as PPM for colloidal silver)
mg : Milligram
mL : Millilitre
OZ : Ounce
PPB : Parts Per Billion
PPM : Parts Per Million

TE : Tyndall Effect -- the scattering of a beam of light from small
particles suspended in a fluid.

uS : MicroSiemens -- a measure of conductivity

Not specifically CS related, but used often enough to deserve mention:

ABX : Antibiotics
CC : Colloidal Copper
CG : Colloidal Gold
CMO : Cetyl Myristoleate -- dietary supplement
DMSO : Dimethyl Sulfoxide -- a solvent with many therapeutic uses
DW : Distilled Water
FDA : Food and Drug Administration
FTC : Federal Trade Commission
GSE, GfSE : Grapefruit Seed Extract -- a natural anti-microbial
H2O2 : Hydrogen Peroxide
HCl : Hydrochloric Acid -- the main constituent of stomach acid
IV : Intravenous
MSM : Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane -- dietary supplement
NaCl : Sodium Chloride, Table Salt
OO, OoO : Oil of Oregano
RA : Rheumatoid Arthritis
VCO : Virgin coconut oil

Helpful Points and Definitions:

in-vitro : Outside the body, as in a test tube or agar plate
in-vivo : Inside the body

PPM is expressed in mg per liter (i.e. weight of silver to a kilogram
of water)
