These days most parents are suggested braces for at least one of their children. Unless there is an obvious and plausible reason to put them thru that period of having to wear braces (and you as a parent having to fork out a fortune), it is worth asking for a second opinion, perhaps even a third. My eldest daughter had real buck teeth due to thumb sucking as a child as well as carrying extra teeth behind the visible teeth which pushed the front teeth even more forward, there just wasn't enough room . She also became selfconscious about her appearance and started holding her hand over her mouth.
There were obvious reasons to go ahead with braces for her.


My youngest daughter had a gap between her front teeth... it was never suggested for her and guess what... the gap closed up when she grew older. Her little daughter, a spitting image in every way of her mum, is sporting a similar gap ... (The gap is actually giving a rather cheeky expression to her face and appearance as it did with my daughter). And I agree with William's wife....lol... rather like that explanation.
