Add saline and use immediately...then discard the balance.
As per using CS [EIS] in the eyes, tears are saline and the same thing will happen in a little while.
In the meantime, things aren't quite so mean and it really does work.
I've never found that distiller water only slight stinging sensation to be all that disagreeable.
You can feel it, but it doesn't "hurt".
Beats pool water, ey?
