     An umeboshi plum is a japanese pickled, fermented plum.  It is highly 
alkaline and a great aid to digestion.  It has been known to destroy food born 
pathogens and cure cases of food poisoning.  It is used throughout Asia and has 
been a part of their traditional diet for many centuries.
