It isn't scientific, but you can hear the radiation from the kitchen Micro-wave by putting on the ear phones and listening to a portable radio. There is a fan shaped pattern of static in front and to the sides of the oven. I showed it to an air-headed girl in her twenties that had her nose to the oven door waiting for a Pizza to cook.
