Apparently my memory was quite good.

A retired school psychologist was kind enough to verify that the question is one in the subtest on Information on the Wechlser Intelligence Scale for Children, an individually administered IQ test which is widely used in the US. The psychologist indicated that they had asked that question many times and that it was amazing how many youngsters had no clue. There were a lot of other general information questions they could not answer, also.
