Years ago I lived in a neighborhood near where the three major meat packers at 
the time each had a plant.  I knew many who worked on one of the hog lines.  
They believed that the hog sensed its impending fate because they had a look of 
terror in their eyes as they approached their final moment.  Very few were able 
to do the actual slaughter for an extended period of time.   Bob Smith

    And it is  known that at the time of slaughter at the Abattre , excessive 
adreneline/hormone levels have been found to be stored in the animals muscle 
tissue and organs, which we subsequently eat.
