People think animals are stupid, which demonstrates more stupidity than the animals they think to be stupid and without consciousness. In order for anyone with the slightest semblence of compassion to do such a job, it is what they must continue to believe, until they can no longer believe it because of what they see and experience.
Like human beings Animals have a sense of danger and know when emminent death is near which produces fear and adrenalin. Just watching an episode of National Geographic should clearly support animal intelligence. bob smith <[email protected]> wrote: @font-face { font-family: Tahoma; } @font-face { font-family: Verdana; } @page Section1 {size: 8.5in 11.0in; margin: 1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; } P.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } LI.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } DIV.MsoNormal { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } A:link { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } SPAN.MsoHyperlink { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } A:visited { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } SPAN.MsoHyperlinkFollowed { COLOR: blue; TEXT-DECORATION: underline } P { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN-LEFT: 0in; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0in; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman" } TT { FONT-FAMILY: "Courier New" } P.ArielOutline1 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } LI.ArielOutline1 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } DIV.ArielOutline1 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } P.Ariel12 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } LI.Ariel12 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } DIV.Ariel12 { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt 0.5in; TEXT-INDENT: -0.25in; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } P.StyleArielOutline110pt { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } LI.StyleArielOutline110pt { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } DIV.StyleArielOutline110pt { FONT-SIZE: 12pt; MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } SPAN.EmailStyle23 { COLOR: navy; FONT-FAMILY: Arial } DIV.Section1 { page: Section1 } OL { MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in } UL { MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0in } Years ago I lived in a neighborhood near where the three major meat packers at the time each had a plant. I knew many who worked on one of the hog lines. They believed that the hog sensed its impending fate because they had a look of terror in their eyes as they approached their final moment. Very few were able to do the actual slaughter for an extended period of time.
