I would not say that Rosemary has done anything to "exaggerate" her condition, Nancy. The botched attempt at dermabrasion -- more harm done by yet another licensed physician -- is quite enough for that. So far, she doesn't seem to be aware of anybody using the selenium, vitamin E treatment who has reported good success. If indeed Stan is recovering, suggest to him that he contact her. We do not need to do or say anything to attack or antagonize Rosemary Jacobs. It won't help us with our job of providing fair and objective information about silver preparations, nor will it help her. > Rosemary did not use colloidal silver, she used Pure silver ground in > a fine powder. That, or some other concentrated form of silver compound, suspension or complex. So, entirely apart from Rosemary's case from the 1950's, we have: > Stan Jones made his CS with tap water so he had every impurity you can > think of in his CS. And Bob Medwith, who made it stronger than recommended and used a lot for months; a couple of ladies on this list who over used WaterOz a few years back; Deborah's doctor's office sighting; and several people who've reported darkened nailbeds... I'd say we're starting to see a pretty good collection of people who have experienced argyria in modern times, wouldn't you say? In other words, one of Rosemary's contentions, that there would be "many new cases of argyria caused by products presently on the market," may in fact be coming true. There are many things Rosemary believes that we do not agree with, most noteably that silver is ineffective in *any* form or amount, but we must not deny reality when it smacks us in the face, just to spite one person who disagrees with us about the benefits. Let's put our goals here into context. The following are excerpts from our Mission Statement, found at http://www.silverlist.org: "We will share the most fair, unbiased, and good quality information we can, freely, without regard to ego or self interest. "We will identify and counter the hype, myths and propaganda that surround the subject of Colloidal Silver. "We will study the art and science of Colloidal Silver production, testing, and use, so newcomers and experienced members alike will have the widest possible range of choices with reasonable certainty of success and minimum cost." If we weren't before, we should now be aware that there is a real risk of argyria when silver powders, silver compounds or protein complexes, high concentrations, large enough quantities, and/or protracted use are involved. In addition, we have reason to suspect that selenium and/or vitamin E deficiency is a contributor. The boundaries of the practices we can consider "safe" have been narrowed by these reports. Bob Medwith used a generator similar to what many of us use, but with a recipe and to produce a product that proved to be unsafe. We've been shown that the body's proven mechanism for excreting silver can be overwhelmed or exhausted in time. I believe it is as much our mission to make information about these kinds of mistakes and hazards available as it is also to make the demonstrated benefits of properly made silver known to those who are interested. Rosemary Jacobs states as her motivation: "First, I have a very strong desire to protect innocent people from physical harm. "Second, I am furious that people selling goods and services can get away with passing off beliefs and unsubstantiated claims as facts." This is not so different in spirit than our own approach. How many unsubstantiated claims from unscrupulous marketers have we had to debunk over the years, besides the fanatical debunkers we've had to battle? Only we must not allow "fury" to close our eyes or our minds to the benefits nor risks of silver use. Nancy's quality of life is immensely better for having used CS. Others here have similarly remarkable stories to tell. We still do not know of anyone who has gotten argyria from even steady use of low concentration silver prepared by electrolysis in pure water. If we are going to continue to share these truths with the world, we must also share whatever we learn about the production, avoidance, and treatment of its side effects. It comes with the territory, I'm afraid. > Mark Metcalf is not the originator of the reversal....Hehas a > website and only reprints letters. Jason Eaton isthe originator of > the resersal.
