Actually, if you just nip the end off a soft-gel capsule of vit. E you can
squeeze the stuff out; since I do a bit of welding I've had recourse to
this method a whole lot. It Works. Another tip, for first unto almost 2nd
degree burns immerse the afflicted part - if possible - into a bowl of ice
water, replenishing the ice as necessary. Give yourself a break for a few
minutes now and then, but the resurgence of pain will probably send you
back to the ice water pretty soon. I once ran the oxy-acetylene cutting
torch across the back of my fingers - the oxygen 'cutting' lever was
depressed - no 3rd degree charring but OWEE!!! Spent the next couple
of hours with my hand mostly in ice water, then fell asleep with hand
immersed, 'til morning. Woke up to stiff skin where the flame had passed,
minimal pain unless I got it warm by, say, washing my hands in warm
water. I put vit E on it now and then through the next days. Ended up no
scars, no permanent skin, muscle or tendon damage whatever.
