Evening Terry, Jean, and the List

I read many years ago, with only Chia, that Indians could go for days with only this seed as energy. It nearly would have to regulate blood sugar but as with most good things, seems it was forced into the dark of the night.

Here is the family name below.

This does state that one tsp could provide energy for a full days march.
Actually, this sounds like an overstatement to me. Depending on the weight of the Indian, how fast he marches ( or runs ) and the weight of his pack, ........... nothing packs that much energy.

It could contain a powerful stimulant which would release energy. Of course a young healthy Indian could make the full days march with nothing, except water.

It is easy to draw the wrong conclusion from virtually any statement.

CHIA

Latin Name: Salvia columbariae

Family: LAMIACEAE

Parts Used: Seeds.

Properties: Demulcent, Diaphoretic, Emollient, Expectorant, Laxative, Nutritive.
