Thanks for that advice, good call. I just rechecked the distiller and reread the instructions in case I missed something. Didn't find any such animals there. Here's what their booklet says: "Although care is taken to insure that your water distiller and its parts are clean, some harmless matter may remain from manufacturing, packaging or shipping. This could leave an unwanted taste or odor in the distilled water the first time you use it. Therefore, we recommend that the first 3 quarts (3liters) of water (1 full cycle) made with your distiller be discarded." Well I've discarded by now at least 40 cycles and have cleaned with vinegar already and still no change. Of course the plastic taste decreased but still not drinkable. I guess I will have to call the genesis people Monday morning. Doris
