 So it would seem they are perhaps viral/bacterial in origin and now I have
to find a way to use cs on them to see if that has the same effect.  If
anyone out there tries this and is successful, please share with the group.
 
Guess I would have to soak a bandaid and leave it there for a while. 
Depending on the location that could be inconvenient.
