I've seen some mention of some interfaces being able to do it, yes, but
I have yet to see any in real life. Not entirely sure WiFi in general
even can do it properly.

What you are trying to do essentially does not work. simh is
essentially
trying to set the interface in promiscuous mode, and fake a second mac
address on the interface. This works just fine on ethernet, but it does
not at all work on WiFi, where your AP knows what MAC address you have,
and will not send packets for another MAC address to your WiFi
controller.
