Strange reasoning on Google's side... Didn't they incorporate the
Timeline into their own widget collection?

As for the hits: Just slashdot Simile, Timeline and Exhibit. That'll
do the job ;)

Maybe a more realistic approach: There are several "static" timelines
in Wikipedia, and many pages that have simple item lists of events. If
someone would come up with glue code to create a timeline from a
simple, pure textual wiki syntax, you'd have your million hits a day.
