Hi, Perhaps too broad a topic for this board, but I figure I'll give it a shot...
Having worked with SIMILE Exhibit for the last couple of years, it has become, along with a number of other JavaScript libraries (most notably jQuery and many of its plug-ins), one of the "standard resources" in my set of tools. I like to shuttle this set of "standard resources" around between projects, adding further layers of abstraction, updated versions and new libraries as they become available. So far, so good. The problems I'm running into now are, I think, related to the increasing size of this set of "standard- resources" and the lack of a uniform way of "handling" it (moving it from server to server and managing changes and versions). I decided long ago to host these "standard resources" locally on each of the web/ app servers that serve the unique content. I use Aptana as my IDE of choice and, although it has a pretty extensive set of integration options, I am yet to find a satisfactory solution. I end up repeatedly ftp'ing huge codebases back-and-forth between my WinXP client and the various web servers with which I interface. I have looked briefly into things like Joomla and Drupal but feel they might be too restrictive. On the other hand, something like CVS (with which Aptana integrates) seems to have no real value in the "web app world". Am I making this too complicated? Does anyone have suggestions on where or what to look at? Thanks very much for any advice or suggestions, -Mark -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "SIMILE Widgets" group.
